Default LSD or Locker?

I don't have much knowledge about this topic so I'm just going to throw it out there and ask the experts... Limited slip differential or lockers? Which one is a smarter for an XJ? Which one is more practical? Can someone please explain the pros and cons of each? Thanks so much for any feedback!

The answer will depend on what you do with your XJ. For me a LSD is worthless because mine is a trail only rig. Even when I ran it on the street it was locked front and rear. A LSD can work pretty good on the trail with the use of the brakes but I prefer to not have to think about it and just go. On a DD rig a LSD might be a better option. If you plan to wheel it heavily I wouldn't waste my coin on a LSD.

LSDs are cheaper and more street friendly, but selectable lockers can be turned off for street use and fully locked for off roading, but are very expensive.

I vote Locker, because even a LSD will act like an open diff if one wheel isnt touching the ground. Selectable Lockers= $$$$ but are more freindly if you drive a lot on the street. Lunchbox Lockers=$$ some people say they are horrible on the street but I have an Aussie Locker it works fine for me. Just My $.02

I also have a "Lunch box" locker (Lockrite) and have no problems on the street or trail or beach (which I mostly drive) I just put heavy duty gear oil in there and it keeps the clicking down on turns...Tj
