major steering problem
i had my blinker switch replaced in my jeep which means the mechanic (family member) had to break down steerig column and stuff.
well wen i got it back today and drove straight i noticed my steering wheel was way off to the right. it also pulls to the right. it's done that for a while but i dont think quite that much. maybe its just more noticable with the steering wheel off idk.
my question is...can the steering wheel be taken off and simply readjusted? if so how??
my uncle seems to think it only has one slot it goes in.
if thats the case (which he suggested front end alignment but it wasnt at all like this before i brought it to him) then somethings really wrong.
please help. im trying to figure out what to do.
i have 3 options. 1. remove steering wheel and adjust go from there
2. take it back to my uncle to let him figure it out.
OR 3. just simply go to the alignment place.
pleeassee help.

Where your steering wheel is located has nothing to do with the pull to the right,if you can get use to the wheel being where it is,I would have the shop see why it is pulling. If the steering wheel is not centered from where it use to be, then it must be able to be put on in different positions. It is splined not keyed.
Before you take it to the shop, make sure you have the same air pressure in all tires.

well before i do anything im gonna straighten that wheel because its driving me insane with it being crooked. i feel like im driving sideways or something.
and with the pull, ill just take it to the alignment shop they shud fix it.

its usually a good idea to let an alignment shop do anything with your steering. they should have all the special tools required to get the job done right. there is a lot of tricky stuff that goes into an alignment. when i was in school they spent almost two months on that subject alone.

right. well straightening that steering wheel will take some pressure off of me. it was just fine until it got worked on. it messes up my whole hand eye coordination cus i always drive with my hands on the bars across.

If your steering wheel is like the stock one on my 94 then you'll find a post that comes up through the steering wheel for the horn that won't allow you to just pull the wheel and place it in another position.

yea. well idk we'll just see tomorrow. if not then its goin to the alignment shop.
hopefully its just the wheel out of position. everyone seems to think thats it.
if its not, then HOW did my uncles shop mess it up when all they did was replace the blinker switch?!

rite. well see i got a big list of stuff. from what i can tell, i think it just seems like its pulling more than usual because of the wheel bein crooked. once i fix the steering wheel, i need to get the tires balanced for sure because they mildy shake when going fast. as well as my brakes need to be checked cus my grandfather helped with the brakes and some piece with the e-brake wouldnt fit or something so he just made it fit more or less. and needless to say my e-brake is nearly pointless. you just have to pull hard. and my brakes don't lock like they should. sometimes it just slides a tid bit and i wonder what would happen if it was an emergency.
other than that i think its good. they said at the last alignment that i need a tortion bar but idk wat that does. mayb it causes the slight pull idk.
cus right after the last alignment it still drifted a bit.
