Making sure I buy all the right parts: rear brakes
#16
if your lookin to replace everything in the rear for around a couple hundred bucks, go disc.
new part prices from autozone:
LR & RR calipers; (core charge included cuz u wont have cores) $130
LR & RR rotors; $55
rear pads; $15, $20, $37, or $60 depending on brand
parking brake shoes; $24
parking brake hardware kit; $17
grab the left & right rear caliper brackets & hoses from a junkyard for 10-15 bucks and you're all set. the brackets need to be ground out a little to get them to slide onto the axle but only takes a few minutes per side to do.
comes to a grand total of $278. the extra stopping power is WELL worth it.

i left my stock prop valve untouched, i would prefer a 50/50 split just because its a trail vehicle and it'd be nice for climbing up and especially down stuff, but if i had to guess id say it feels more like 60% front 40% rear,(whereas it felt like 90/10 before), if i stomp the brakes real hard on sand i can get all 4 wheels to lock up but on pavement just the fronts will lock up. you will go through rear pads a little quicker, but the brake feel is totally worth it. i have a super soft front suspension and yet theres very very little nosedive when braking.

I'm redoing my rear [drum] brakes on my 98 XJ, and I want to make sure I'm buying all the right parts. I'm replacing everything, but it's hard to tell what all comes in the kits, and what I might be forgetting. Here's my recipe so far:
Brake Shoe Set Master Kit
(2) Rear Brake Drum [9 inch]
(2) Rear Brake Wheel Cylinder
Adjusting Brake Screw Kit, Left
Adjusting Brake Screw Kit, Right
I'm also picking up Rear Brake Hose At Rear Axle. Anyone know for sure this is the hose for the right side, the long one that goes from the housing on the axle out to the back of the drum? I'm asking Morris, too, just to make sure.
Anything else I'm not thinking of?

The parts listed will be everything you need. maybe get 2 cans of brake cleaner aswell. about 30 minutes a side to replace all that give or take a beer break

Just did mine this past weekend..... one thing I don't see in the list is the hardware kit.... NOT the self adjuster kit... the hardware kits with all new springs, pins etc... Maybe they're in your master kit but my web master won't let me access the link.....

it looks like the master kit comes with the screw adjusters, so you won't need the extra ones you have listed at the bottom of your list.
for the hard lines, just get a pre made length from nappa and bend it by hand. just be careful not to put a sharp bend in it, bend it with caution and a nice round radius. just try to match the bend in the line you removed.
