Need a manual for 96 cherokee
Just bought my first cherokee. I need an owners manual for the 96 jeep cherokee to find out what fuses I need. Someone broke into it, stole a bunch of stuff, my battery and all my fuses were taking as well. Having trouble finding the abs fuses

Check ebay. Good source for owners manuals, which usually aren't too expensive. I just looked and there are a number of them available for a 96.

You might have some trouble with a 96 FSM. Some things were transitioning in 96....If you find a 95, that might be pretty right for almost everything.
You might poke around in here for something> http://jeep.zerok.ru/index.php?page=XJ
Also some ausse Jeep site offers stuff sometimes.

96 Cherokee XJ FSM
Old Thread, and an old jeep, but has anyone found a .pdf yet for the 96 FSM? I want a digital version, and the sites that offer the "96" version, sends you the '95 instead.
Appreciate any assistance.

Sigh, I could use the link too. My window is stuck 3/4 of the way open, and the previous owner has run 'jumpers' on the fuse box. When I tried to check the fuses, I miss-replaced one and lost interior and tail lights.

could never get my hands on a manual for the 96 either. i usually go with the 95 and 97 and try to figure things out from there.
95 for anything that has to do with the older body style / interior and 97 for the OBDII stuff. it's not 100% right but it gives you an idea.
examples :
-my windshield wiper pump is shot and I need to replace it. I'll use the 95 because it's related to the location on the older body style.
-my TPS is acting funky, I'll use the 97 manual to get the good readings. (probably would work with the 95, but i remember when replacing the TPS I had to get one from a 97 because their "96" was not oriented the same way)

I was wondering if you could share the link with me for the manual. I've spent hours searching for a free download of the manual. I've found several sites but I'm using my phone to access the site and flash player will not download the files. If you could help me id much appreciate it

The 96 FSM is available at PacificCoastManuals. I bought it the day I brought my 96 home and use it often. It is generally quite accurate except for some of the electrical items, because the 96 can be a bit of a mix in that area. So I ended up getting the 95 and 97 FSM for it as well. It is well worth having and answers many many questions regarding the behavior of certain systems and components. It also totally removes the need to have a chilton or haynes guide (I haven't touched mine since I got the FSM), because it is much more detailed, and the steps are very specific to your vehicle in most cases instead of the generalized steps or "see a professional" that shows up in the chilton/haynes.

That "96" FSM is actually a '97 FSM. Read the date at the bottom of the wiring diagram pages.
I bought one. Contacted them about it and never heard back from them. The other FSM's I bought from them were accurate, year-wise.

I don't have access to it at the moment, but I'll take your word on it.
Would make sense, because I have a later 96 that is very 97ish in its electrical layout. So that 96 FSM has been generally ok and useful. But I also have the 95 fuse block so I got the 95 fsm for that and some of the related wiring. But your point would explain why I had such a hard time finding any accurate reference for the 96 PDC.
