Default Manual Transmission Removal Trouble

Hey I’m trying to change the clutch on my 1994 XJ and I’ve removed all the bellhousing bolts and inspection plate bolts and I have disconnected all the sensors including the crank position sensor but I haven’t unbolted the cps, I can’t get my trans to unmate from the block, does the cps need to come out too or is there something else I need to look for?

Take the CPS out so you don't damage it by having it hit the flywheel.

You sure you got all the bolts? Removed the starter? I think there might be an extra sheet metal screw from the back into upper aluminum dust cover as well. I think I had to use a come-along to get mine to separate as the centering dowels seems stuck. If you have some extra long bolts, thread those in while yanking so things don't go flying. Those extra long bolts with the heads cutoff and slotted make great guide pins for reinstalling, btw.

If your sure you've got all the bolts out and its ready to go, lightly support the transmission with a jack and then go step on the clutch pedal. Use to use this trick on pulling engines on VW Beetles, pop's em right apart.

Lightly being important I assume. Mashing it down could damage the slave if it over-extends.

I bet you missed the one on the driver's side that goes from engine to trans.
