Where is the map sensor on a 99 xj... im having a surging problem and cant find my map sensor it's suposed to be on the fire wall some where near the back of the valve cover... it's not on a 99 aparently. theres nothing but vac hoses running along my fire wall and they all go to somthing i cant identify.

Look at the intake manifold. Along the driver's side there should be three-four vacuum ports.

One is for the CCV (PCV) one goes to the inside to the A/C switch.
The other should be for your MAP sensor.
After it leaves the manifold IIRC, it should turn into a hard plastic tube.

Here's a pic I took to point out the temperature sending unit.
Look just above my hand. You will see a green wire connector. This is the MAP on a 94 Sport. Yours may be similar.

no its different thats why im having a hard time finding it... i think it actuall is on the throttle body after looking it up by part. to see what it looks like out of the box, it looks like the sensor on the throttle body ( my throttle body has 3 sensors coming off of it)... why so complicated?

I neglected to look into this before I opened my mouth.

Here's the critter in question...

BUT it still requires a vacuum line.

on the throttle body itself, the vacuum pipe come stright out of the throttle body via a small rubber pipe

Bsicallt the one on the right hand side of the throttle body as you look from from the front of the car
