Default Master switch for locks

I’ve had this issue in my 99 xj that the lock/unlock on the drivers side never worked but the passenger side would only unlock. Fast forward I replaced the master switch and now the drivers side unlocks and for a moment it was locking as well. The passenger side will function properly so I was just leaning over using that, yesterday it will only go back to unlocking. Any suggestions?

My best guess is stiffness in the locking mechanism, which can be evaluated by seeing if the button trys to move, or is stiff to feel, if so, lube is required

If the lock button makes no attempt to move, my next suggestion is wiring, as it has to go through the door bundle, which flexes and causes poor current flow

In this case, to diagnose, one should follow the instructions in the FSM, I use a test light to ascertain what is happening at switches, motors, solenoids etc

door card and kick panels need to be removed

Okay it’s morning now. I’ll let you know what I find. T my knowledge I do believe there is power to both. It’s almost as a if you can feel/har an actuator in the door not work.

If the actuators don't move click or thump then its a power / ground/ control issue usually with wiring. If they make noise but dont work its a mechanical issue . Does the door lock and unlock easily with the key or the hand button. There are shaft linkages that connect all 3 things..actuator hand button and key lock. They rust stiff sometimes
