Sounds like a newbie in the shop chasing new alternator problems in the wrong spot to me. Also, if the bastards drained your already dirty oil into a dirtier drain pan, then put that oil back in it, and didn't change your filter, I would start threatening for money to keep you quiet, then never take your heap back there again. That's some jiffylube shady ****.

Oh well. We'll never know. He's not going to follow... much less prove it.

Update on mechanic switched parts
So I told some friends what had happened and asked their opinions. A few said I was crazy just as some of did. Yet the couple of people that actually drove my jeep and has helped me work on it agreed w me that parts where different. So, I filed a complaint w the Better Business Bureau. They reviewed my complaint and sent it to the business the mechanic owns. He has written a rebuttal and they sent it to me so I could accept or deny it. I denied it and explained why. So now I am waiting for the next step. I will keep you posted.

This story really interest me because about 5 years ago, I came home from work and someone had stole every single item in my entire house and replaced it with an exact duplicate, so I'm wanting to hear how your ordeal ends.

I didn't read whole thread yet but there's a stamped tag with VIN screwed to the unibody crossmember just behind the bumper. I believe u gotta remove the bumper to be able to read it.

How well do you know your cherokee? If you got in it and the sit had been moved, would you know? What about your mirrors? Would you know if the steering wheel had been moved from the way you usually keep it? If you installed the stereo system yourself and had to modify certain things, or run the wires a certain way so they didn't show. Would you know if they weren't the way you put them? I have had my jeep for 6 years and have done most the work myself when needed. Also, I'm a neat freak and keep wipes on hand so I can wipe my dash, console, etc... down daily. i vacuum it at least twice a week. I don"t no about any of you people, but I notice when things have been moved or rearranged. Just because your lucky enough not to have had anything happen to your vehicle doesn't mean it didn't happen to mine or alot of other peoples. This kind of thing happens more than you would think. Reason you don't hear about it so much is because people don't notice it or they notice and can't prove it. Guess they must be crazy to.
