I have a set of M/T immitation beadlock wheels. i have had them for 4 years now. today i was driving and all of a sudden i got a loud clunking noise coming from the front end. i stopped and had the XJ towed to my house and went to go take the right front wheel off and notice i only had 1 damm lug nut holding my wheel on. one of the lug hole inserts was laying in the wheel. i am still missing 1 and i have 1 broken lug stud. after looking alittle more i have a decent amout of play in my rt outer axle u-joint. do you think that is what caused all this or the wheel failing caused the u-joint to go bad. i cannot believe this happened. 1 damm lugnut left. that could have been a ugly accident.
Do you think M/T will help me any since the 2 of the inserts came out? i have a dana 30. is it going to be a pita to change the u-joint and is this front end a c-clip or non c-clip? its a 1998 cherokee.

 

Your first mistake was depending on lug hole inserts instead of straight drilled. Weak setup.

How long has it been since you checked the torque on all lug nuts?

just about 1-2 months ago i rotated tires. they came with inserts and didnt know they did i guess. no issues til now. think that axle u-joint caused it?
