Cool It might be broke but I値l fix it.

Hi I have 2000 xj 4.0 auto trans that I hydrolocked a few weeks back. It was pretty bad the whole cab filled up with water about halfway. I changed the plugs, crank sensor, and all the fluids except breaks and rad fluid. It痴 running pretty good idles nice and everything it seems fine right. But when you start driving it you realize it won稚 rev past 3000 rpm outside of if first gear. I was however able to find a nice straight road yesterday and shift it into third and Held my foot to the floor eventually it got close to 4000 rpm but I had to slow down bc I was doing 90. Anyways that痴 the issue the engine basically has no ***** for some reason.

You should perform a fuel pressure test, and also try to pick up an OBD2 scanner so that you can observe what the fuel trims are doing while operating the vehicle.

I'm thinking TPS and MAP sensor. They don't like water at all.

You check the distributor cap?

Did they still have distributors that late?

99 was the last year for the distributor - 2000+ have the coil rail.

But then again the cam sensor could be full of water as well. Good point. The cam sensor's major function is to tell the PCM which cylinder to fire, which cylinder JUST fired, and which one is next. This is for purposes of adjusting mixture, injector dwell time.

When Initial fix was the cam sensor after replacing that Jeep ran and idled. Idk have a fuel pressure test machine nor would I know how to use it. I知 gonna buy a new tps and see if that fixes it.
