Hey Juicy? How do you crank the motor with the negative side of the battery disconnected?

Hmm....

If the milky white crap is higher up on the dipstick, you could just be experiencing condensation. This happens to my 1992 Pontiac 2.3L SOHC Quad 4 pretty often thanks to the oil/air separator not having heated hoses like the later models do. When the temperature drops, it starts to occur. Never happens in the summer. It only has 43k miles so I know that the head gasket is solid as is every other piece in the car (I checked it just to make sure, I know the history on those quad-4's). So, if all the oil isn't looking like that, I wouldn't start thinking that it's your head gasket necessarily. Could be, but keep a close eye on that coolant level. If that's disappearing, then yeah, you likely have a HG issue unless you're seeing puddles on the garage floor or driveway. If not, change out the oil, do 5W-30 or 0W-30, and throw some seafoam in the crankcase to help eat up any residual moisture that made its way in.

Good luck!

Last time my oil looked like that, it was a tore up head gasket in my subaru i had in high school. That one was worth getting rid of the car over. Not a jeep though.

My mistake, what I should have said is ground the wire that leads to the distributor cap. My apologies.

So that's what the oil looks like? Or was that an example that someone else gave? I'm having trouble following this thread honestly...

Puddles on the ground would be good in this scenario because that means you have a leaky radiator/hose/water pump/etc. as opposed to a head gasket that needs replacement.

You could always throw in some Bars leak fix but I think that causes a real mess if you ever want to fix it properly. That's more geared towards vehicles that are ending up in the junkyard soon and you want to squeeze a little more life out of.

Mine was a Subaru which ran a totally different type of engine in those days. It was the head gasket. As for the bars leak, the person who owned my "91 xj before me put bars leak in it and completely plugged the cooling system up on it. I had to flush it three times before I could get that nasty stuff to start coming of the motor. I would stay away from bars leak if iI were you. Oh yeah, is there any kind of smoke out of the tail pipe?
