If it came up with a cmp code, I'd put my money there. If the sensor is bad it could be over advancing or retarding ignition, which would cause your issue. The ckp is probably fine, but no hurt in it being replaced imo.

That's true. I kept the spare under the seat. Crank sensors usually cause hot no-start conditions.

It all started with a no start and new crank sensor.....seems it has a few lil glitches she needs fixed. It is pulling cam sensor code, but as read in MANY, many, threads with similar issues......can 100 $ yourself into the poorhouse over a bad ground wire. Wiring is not my gig....and I know that, so I handed the project to The Repair Shop over here with great confidence in it being remedied.

Default Adaptive Memory

From an earlier post of mine.... I changed out the flywheel (flexplate) and the crank sensor and still threw misfire codes.... reset them many many time then tried this procedure... viola... no more codes. Related to your issue? Don't know. Cost to try: FREE.

UPDATE: I did some research and learned about what is referred to as "adaptive memory", i.e. that after changing parts, including the fly wheel I just did, the computer has to re-learn parameters using the new part. After having cleared probably 15-20 misfire codes post flywheel change, I performed what multiple sites and people said to do. That is re-set the adaptive memory. Remove the positive battery cable and touch it to a ground for 30 seconds or so. Put the cable back and turn key to ON position, turn headlights on briefly then off. Turn key off. Supposedly this drains the capacitors in the ECM with the lights being the final pull of current... this clears adaptive memory and the vehicle is back to factory pre-sets and re-learns with the new fly wheel in my case over the next 50 starting cycles. Since doing that 2 weeks back I have not had a misfire code at all when before it was not uncommon to have 4 a day. Is this smoke and mirrors? Works according to my experience here.

Got it fixed. From the beginning we put in New crank sensor... Started but ran rough with lots of misfired. Changed coil pack. Also helped but still not good. Kept running cam sensor code. Tested sensor. It was fine. Changed plugs. Again better but still tripped here and there. EnDs up the plugs were gapped wrong and also a bad fuel injector. All better now. Thankfully I have a friend that helped me out or I'd still be spending good money after bad going by codes pulled. Jeep people are always very helpful. Kid is happy Again.
