Oil pressure sounds normal. Both my XJ and TJ do that.

I have a few issues going on right now and could REALLY use some advise!

About 3 days ago I was driving my XJ for the second time in a month (I had been overseas and had a buddy take it out half way through) and noticed that it was reving up to 2500 rpm while in neutral. I cleaned the TB and TBS and decided to install a new set of plugs while I was at it. The reving problem went away but now I'm having issues with cylinder 3 misfiring. I replaced the plug in 3 and am going to check the boot tomorrow and I'm not really sure why changing the plugs would aggravate a heat soaking issue (if that's what it is) seeing as how this has never happened before. Another thing I noticed after driving for a while is that my coolant level seemed kind of low. This is probably a stupid question but is it normal for the coolant level in the reservoir of a hot engine to be a few inches lower? It's running a bit over 210 and oil pressure is normal. Its a 2000 4.0 sport 5-speed 4x4.

I have the heat soak problem on my 2001 , I installed a fan override switch and when I go to start it if the guage goes to 210 then I turn on the fan and drop it too 200 before starting. The problem is remembering to do that so I put three layers of exhaust wrap on the fuel rail ,it helped but did not cure it.I have now installed a grand cherokee fan clutch and it runs at 200 not 210 and that really helps.

Well I haven't had the heat soak issue in a while now. It usually happens after long drives, summer or winter, but has not since I had my head and head gasket replaced along with a new JEEP thermostat. It used to run at 210-215 and the fan would always kick on at stop lights but I have yet to see the fan run and it now stays at a cool 200 degrees at all times. It has never run this cool in the 6 years I've had it. My fan is collecting dust LOL.

Does it actually misfire or are you just getting the code? If it does, when does it do it and how often?

It's possible the exhaust mod has nothing to do with it and previous owner/seller sold you this without telling you about the ongoing misfire issue and it just showed it's ugly annoying head.
