Moral Dilemma Fix front end and engine issues or sell
I know the question of fix or sell comes up frequently, but I really am torn on what to do....Old gal needs at the least, new ball joints, front upper control arms, track bar, tie rod. Rowdy misfire going on as well. Good chance she'll also need new gear box and 2 new tires when all is said and done.
I really don't have the money to fix her even with knowing some friends that will do the work for me at a heavy discount. There just won't ever be anything like an XJ, it's like a classic to me. But, on the other hand, I am not getting the joy out of her anymore due to the repair work that needs to be done....no trips to the mountains, hell, I don't even drive on the highway anymore. Practical side is telling me to sell, but the sentimental side is telling me to keep holding on despite the financial repercussions. So if you where in my shoes, would you sell or fix?

Repair Costs?
Resale Value of your Jeep in as in condition?
Replacement cost of the transportation vehicle of your choice?
Crunch the numbers; the choice is yours not mine.

Indeed. The Jeep is an inanimate object. Morals don't enter into it.
But money does. Sine the OP has a 2000 XJ, and presuming it is a 4.0 with the original non-TUPY 0331 head on it (which has a factory casting flaw), I would get rid of it before it gets real serious.
Which it may already be doing with the "rowdy misfire".

If you get rid of it, you will be deemed to live in hell. Where you will be forced to drive a Prius around the same suburban block for all eternity. The driveways will be filled with all kinds of 4x4 vehicles you will be forced to look upon.
