Been thinking about your trans issue.

Is it not shifting into 4/overdrive, or is the torque converter not locking up?

TC doesn't lock up. I went through all the electrical stuff the other day, everything check out OK, I did find that I had one of the diodes in backwards, didn't get to take it out of the garage yet, been sloppy weather here. May get to take her out today.

It'll stall if I forget to turn off the switch, other then that I don't think it has locked up sense I have it

Just got back from a 120 mile run and no different then before, goes through all four gears, but TC will not lock up unless I do it manually. Going to hook a test light up to the wires that feed the TC solenoid and see what I get that way. If the TCU is working then I'll have to look down the line for something else. Had the same provblem with my '53 Ford, 3sp w/overdrive.

Sorry, but I gotta say it...the fluid smells good? What do you have to compare it to? 15 years of trans experience?

I find it hard to believe you can properly diagnose this issue, you are here on the forum asking basic questions, can I ask you how you know what "good fluid" smells like?

...and please don't say "it smelled like what came out of the bottle"
