mothers headlight restoration kit WORKS!!!
So today I picked up mothers headlight restore kit at O'riellys auto parts. I got a chance to try it on the GF's ford contour and it did a great job. and her headlights where super yellow and etched bad. see for your self how it did, sorry for the cell pics...only thing handy.
the first two pics are before I started...
the right one after the first go around of treatment.
the left side of the left headlight after its first go around...
close up...
the right one finished...still some ectching, but the kit comes with an "extreme" damage kit to take care of this problem. I want to see how the main kit did first before doing the extreme treatment.

Used the Mother's Kit on my '02 Accord yesterday. It has sat outside every day of it's life. Plus I live in the southern United States.
After about 1 hr 15 minutes, I had both lenses looking 98% of new.
About $22.00 at Wal*Mart. I had a headlight restoration guy at a dealership quote me about $150 on both lights.
Let's see how long it lasts now.

If you start with wet sanding with a 2000 grit sand paper you will cut the surface layer off.
You can then either buff with a plastic polish or a paint glaze to get a shine out, or skip that and clearcoat the plastics for a shine.

Thats nice. I used a cheap headlight restore I got at walmart. In a small black bottle with a blue label. Its like a blue wax almost. I also have a buffer so that what I used. I had a 93 lexus es300 and the headlights were just like the contour you showed. Now they are clear as day. Did it mutliple times by hand then twice per head light after I bought a buffer. It was like under $5 or so for the bottle. I have also used stuff over $20 and thought this little bottle was just as good.
