motor knocking on start-up
00
atk reman 4.0 >500 miles
title pretty much sums it up. after its been sitting for a length or so when i start her up she fires right up, runs a tad rough, the knocking slowly fades in for about 30 or so secs and then fades away.
ive found that if i gas it a few times it wont do it (twice so far so not certain). I'm thinking that it may be a leaking injector filling the cylinder and throwing it outta balance, maybe the oil pumps not firing up correctly but im getting good pressure on the gauge? i dunno, anybody got an other ideas.
turns out i cant afford their warranty process so im kinda stuck here.

What kind of oil filter are you using? Fram is known for not working well in our 4.0's because the anti-drain back valve doesn't work causing a dry start.

Wix is good. I hear that Napa Gold is just rebranded Wix and they are less expensive. The over-sized is a #1515. It's bigger than stock so it lets you have about 1/2 qt more oil in the system.

i made that connection recently, unbelievable the guy who swapped the motor would do that but eh... i could call him and yell at him but at this point im waaay to interested in deducing this issue and fixing it to give a f.
also picked up some new oe champion plugs to replace the ngk's i put in her way back when... it amuses me thinkin back about when i did that and how difficult it was(the fist thing i ever did for her)... yet this morning i pulled them all and had her back up and running in under an hour
well i tossed a new injector in her, ill find out if it was for nothing when i get off work i guess. then itll be back to the drawing board

like the infamous crCked head issue with this year right. uhm, well like i said it hasnt gone down and if that was the cause i would imagine by 500 it would be noticeable yes? one of the spark plugs was so loose that it was wobbly in the hole, im thinking that may have been a cause

I've had a spark plug so loose it shot out of the hole. Didn't give any indication whatsoever until it happened. Scared the hell out of me.
Yours would misfire all the time if it was only a slightly loose plug. I don't think a loose plug would cause a misfire.
