not sure mine would shoot out at all, theres a coil pack bolted down sitting in top of it, it either wouldnt or itd blow the coil pack to pieces on its way out, i have heard they dislodge with quite a large amount of force

if it's knocking at all you need to pull the oil filter and cut it open, stat. nothing caused by a "rough running engine" would cause a knock. think of all the carbed stuff you hear starting up and running like crap the first few seconds...that doesn't knock.
something to consider. i bought a truck with a "rebuilt" motor in it. the engine was indeed rebuilt, but after 500 or so miles it developed a knock on startup. the guy who rebuilt it used so much permatex big pieces of it broke off inside the motor and clogged up the oil pump pickup screen. needless to say, i rebuilt the engine...again...and literally cleaned 2 handfuls of broken permatex out of the oil passages in the block and heads. that was a very time consuming, nightmarish rebuild. but the engine never sounded better.

i just... im at a loss here(quite literally), thought i was doing this awesome thing for a vehicle i absolutely adore. pulled the trigger on a huge investment into it and its turning into a huge stressful nightmare ugh. im gonna swap the new plugs in, switch back out the injector and dump even more money into taking it to a professional.

Coolant leaking into the cylinders, causing partial hydrolock and raising the compression, will. Until it is burned off/expelled from the cylinders.

well if thats happening then it has nothing to due with things attached to the motor and everything to do with seals inside the motor yea? ive kept a watchful eye on my coolant and havent noticed changes, ive been checking my oil frequently (and changing it ha) and seen nothing in it, ive also observed the coolant itself. when pulling the plugs i let out a bit and its green n pretty. no discoloration no milky oil. by no means im i saying ur wrong im simply asking if im looking in the wrong places

and where i was thinking was that a leaking injector was filling a cylinder causing the lock. which given the lack of evidence of disappearing coolant would be reasonable to suspect? like ive stated, i know=jack **** these are not facts but questions

If it was a leaky injector, and leaking enough to cause a knock, it would problalbly miss for a few minutes as well. You should also be able to smell gas, on initial start-up......RR

well it would appear the jeep gods are toying with me now haha. put the injector back in this morning. PRIMED HER MULTIPLE TIMES(key on key off repeat) and started her. i ran to the tail pipe to smell for gas, nothing, she did her run rough thing a lil... and thats it, no knock! well i have a new thing to try next time i guess, but i swear ive tried that before. i think its more just the first thing i said but we'll see
ive marked my coolant bottle as well

So i took it over to a professional today, left her there for five or so hours, came back, fired her up NOTHING! didnt even run rough, figures haha. well after the shock passed ive determined that time is not a factor, correct me if im wrong but if it was coolant or injector leakage then it would have dont it? ive had it do it after two hours of sitting. im thinking its temperature now cause it had been sitting out in the sun all day. its like it does it when the motor is psychically cold only. but even that doesnt make sense because ive had it do it in the middle of the day before too. the guy said the motor sounded beautiful (yea! i hear it too!) and the only thing out of place was my a/c compressors making a racket, even had me stick my ear to a long driver and listen. he mention that maybe the bearing on it was locking up after it cooled and throwing it out of wack on restart but i dont see how that would do anything other than cause the belt to chirp? ill hit it with my blow torch tomorrow morning(carefully*) and see if it does anything
still scratching my head on this one...

update on this,
today i had an idea, i flashed the comp and wa-la, no rough start, knock was still there but much quiter and no rough start.
i had done this before once when i changed out some ugly battery terminals and thought i had fixed it but it returned. just did the flash and started her up to no more rough start.
is it possible my motor has a learning disability?
