I mainly just mention this just so I get that little arrow on your thread. (to follow). My old girl has 279K. Over heated it a bit last week and blew the lower rad hose trailering a ton of cinder-bloks almost straight up a wall. Dealt with that and gave her her February oil change. (a bit late)

Unsettling that now I hear maybe three "raps", in a tad less than a second on start-up. (the new Napa Gold/Wix went in after that hot day).

I might just buy another new filter on the chance I got one with a faulty anti-drain back valve. You are due for a change at 500 miles IIRC.

I didn't see oil pressure mentioned in your thread.

We always like U-Tube vids of the noises people have. Do please raise the hood. Believe it or not, some don't! Here is my "normal" knock, not a rod I suppose. >

Well, that morning I had just shut her down baking hot in 35*, then came out and recorded that after sitting 1/2 hr. In any case, normally it's not so pronounced. Same sound, easily mistaken for a rod, for over 10 years. Some Day, I want to take a shot at checking my crank end play at the crank pulley.

Want to swap Jeeps? I'll take your noise over mine!

I don't see where it says someone checked that the torque plate to torque converter bolts are tight. (always check those with a knock)

right but you didnt just spend 2gs plus install on putting a new one in yours haha.

well see thing about that is that is the whole miles<500 in the op. unless they have wiggles loose since having the entire motor out, which given the wicked vibes the new mounts threw out in the beginning i feel could have happened, they were snugged back on then. and wouldnt that keep making the noise instead of only doing it on a "cold" start? i guess the heat could expand the plate and snug it.
