Motor mount replacement

When we installed my Brown Dog mounts we found the same issue on my 91' XJ the adaptor was up like yours is. We just loosened the bolt enough to rotate it back like the adaptor is on my sons' 94. Went ahead and did an oil change at the same time.

The Brown dogs will be ALOT different than the oem style. I just replaced my motor a few weeks ago and went with brown dog rubber mounts and I will be switching back. Just too much vibration for me. I think the Brown Dogs are probably fantastic if you plan to do any off roading but if it is a daily driver my self I will be going back to oem.
Just my opinion and not saying Brown Dog isn't a good product, very heavy duty mounts.

I use my Jeeps primarily as daily drivers with some fire roads here and there, and went with dealer mounts after looking at some of the junk rubber the local stores were selling. They were pricey but I went at least 10 years before I noticed I needed them on my 01 XJ. The engine mounts had sagged and the transmission mount had some cracks in it. I am not sure about your oil filter mount. My filter is toward the back bumper and I had no clearance problems. Rubber deteriorates over time even if its not visibly cracked. I use a 4x4 under the oil pan and transmission pan when changing mounts.

If you're going to spend dealer money, you might as well spring for the Brown Dogs. Even if the rubber or poly ever wears out, you just buy new rubber or poly and keep using the same mounts, because it's not likely those will ever break.

You probably over tighten the through bolt. In the instructions they say to tighten it snug and then back it off a half turn. Otherwise you will have excessive vibes. Mine doesn't have any noticeable vibes. I would check that first before you give up on the B.D.s OEM are junk and don't last. We replaced my sons' 94 and two years later the driver side were gone.

We backed it off until we could spin the washers by hand. Spoke to Brown Dog and they said do the tranny mount and see if that makes any difference. I have the tranny mount and will be installing this weekend. Like I said I installed a rebuilt engine at the same time and it could be some of the new vibrations as well. Just a little too much for me.
