lots of stuff? in the head and valve cover, damm.

some people have used diesel fuel, yes! you pour in about 500ml and let the engine run for 10 mins, drain and re-fill. seen it done and it cleans up pretty good, but others say don't do it.

diesel fuel has a lot of conditioners in it and it's also a cleaner as well.

you can buy a can of engine flush, READ the directions and follow them!
any parts store has it, you pour it straight into the crankcase, run the engine and then drain the oil, after 15 mins run time. THEN after 500kms I would re-drain and add fresh oil and filter again.

unless you plan to pull the engine apart and hot tank it.

Most of that engine clean stuff you put in is about 85% Diesel or Kerosene. Just look up the MSDS for them... Some of them (seafoam included) are "Pale Oil" and Acetone mainly...
Some people say to just use Kerosene and run it through your engine for about 15mins, but I think Diesel is a little more "robust" and will clean it out better. Make sure you change the oil, and dont drive with the diesel in the oil. I would also change the oil after about 100-200 miles from this...
Heres the seafoam MSDS in PDF format:

seafoam is really great stuff. I used it on mine and it definitely smoothed out the way it ran.

right before your next oil change. Some people say run it for 10 mins, others say leave it in for 100 miles then change the oil...

Did it look like this?

I did a lot to clean it up and most of it work. But the problem with big hunks like what you have is once you clean it up it will start to clog your oil pick up and cause oil Pressure problems. So after you run all the gunk remove stuff through it. Pull your Oil pan and clean the gunk out of it.

This is my cleaning the rockers thread from NAXJA

This should be all the info you could use for this HTH!

Yeah with seafoam I have heard both also. I opted to pour it in, run it for about 20 minutes idle in the drive way (suggested by my friend who also works at napa and suggested seafoam in the first place)

But yeah I have heard both ways of doing it.

and yes do it before the next oil change If you do it after you change the oil you will just have to turn around and change it all over again very soon.
