Default Motor tick, low end

In my 89 renix motor i noticed on a few occasions (though not constantly or consistently) a verrrrrrrrrry light tick/tap at idle, so my question is should i be worried or am i probably ok for atleast a bit?

I do want to do the "40% more power" upgrade that jp.mag did a while back, so it would get new lifters, rods, rockers and valves etc, just wanted to know if im already in trouble or do i maybe just need to seafoam the motor and clean it out a bit? My oil pressure is fine still gets ovef 40 at ot with accel, about 25 at idle at ot

I wouldn't worry about a minor intermittent tick as long as your oil pressure is as good as it is. Might be worth a cursory compression check before you warm up the top end.

What brand oil filter is on there?

I drive to local machine shop and pay $10 for 5 min consultation about knock.
If I call machine shop owner to come to my place I pay $60

Provided you either really trust the guy (which in your case you clearly do, but the OP may not have such a relationship), or take the advice with a grain of salt.
You are basically asking a stranger if you need to give them money or not, lol.
Some machine shops are beyond bad, they'll happily tell you- with a very serious look on their face- that your minor tick means your crankshaft is about to perform an olympic-caliber pole vault the minute you exit the driveway.
Which of course they can fix, just leave it here, come back next week....

Check your flexplate bolts, when they come loose the sound resembles a low end knock.

Okay, I'm up.
Definitely check the dlexplate bolts. Nice write-up here.

Also, I've been hearing some not so good things about Purolator lately. Don't know if there's anything to it, but I stay on the safe side and use Wix, Napa or Mopar.

I know for sure what works and I'm not gambling at this point if you know what I mean.
