Default movement felt when coming to a stop?

hello CF,

Recently when coming to a stop, I am feeling something under me move. Forgive me as it is hard to explain. There are no sounds / pops / clunks, just a movement.

I initially thought it was the motor / tranny mounts, but I took a look at those and they seem to be ok. Would U-joints cause this? I am not getting any clicking noises or weird vibrations. It seems to only happen during more abrupt stops.

Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on?

thanks

You're going to have to be a little more specific than something is moving.

Do you get a clunk when you start moving, especially when braking hard, like for a light you didn't think would turn red?

I'm thinking maybe the slip yoke where the driveshaft attaches to the transfer case, but it's just a hunch.

No clunk, but it definitely happens during a situation like this.
Is there anything specific to look for around the slip yoke?

My first thought was the slip yoke as well, but I believe it depends on the year. IIRC 96 was the transition year where the slip yoke wasn't lubricated by the tranny fluid in the transfer case. If you can remove the drive shaft without any fluid coming out of the seal around the slip yoke, then you just need to grease it up every once in a while... I just use the grease that I use on the ball joints, but I've read where some people have used anti-seize and have been happy with it.
