Hi All- Thanks everyone for the input. Here in farm country(NW MN) most of the work/hunt/utility xj's are 2.5's- not sure why. 2.8 GM's did'nt seem to live thru our arctic winters, and all soccer mom/old pfart xj's are 4.0's. Maybe cos the 2.5 is 2/3's of the 4.0, which along w/dodge's slant six (225) have got to be some of the toughest engines ever built. Anybody else out there use theirs for work/utility like we do or is it all just fun wheeling ? 253k on the 86, god knows on the 84 (odo tamper!!!)

Mines a '97 with 119,000 miles.
4.0 auto with 3.55 gears and 30x9.50-15 bfg-at's.

I get about 13-16 in town , 22 - 25 on the highway.
The Jeep is my "economy car". LOL!!

Well.......other than my '82 Honda XL500r enduro.
It gets about 55 mpg.

I am still trying to get the fill bolt loose on the transfer case, drain is fine but someone partly stripped the top and it seems rusted in. Any ideas out there?
calvin carpenter my allen head plugs also where rusted in on my tc i just heated up the area around them and they backeded out nice and easy

Here is a 2 month average from 06-23-96 to 08-23-96. 2,606 miles for an average of 18.162556 miles per gallon. On July 6 1996 what ever grade of fuel the old goat put in it was $1.51897 a gallon.

Oh yeah. 1995 Country.

1995, 4.0, auto, 3.55's , 32x11.5 MTs, I run freeway mostly as a DD. on the highway I'm averaging about 16-17MPG. I'm not sure about the around town I've never driven an entire tank out locally. BTW my speedos off but according to it I drive between 65-70 MPH, but in reality it's closer to 75-80. if I slowed down the MPG would increase, but time is money, and I'll just pay for my saved time at the pump.
