Default muffler help.

Here lately my exhaust has developed a small leak. I looked this morning and the tail pipe seemed loose and moved alot. After further inspection where the pipe meets the muffler is loose. I can move the pipe around and see a decent sized gap. Can I weld the pipe to the muffler to fix this?

Depends on how deteriorated/rusted your parts are.

Might be time for a new muffler and/or tailpipe.

Well it didn't appear to have any rust. Just looked like it came unhooked somehow. I will try to look again later and take a picture of it.

It's a little dirty buy you can see the gap and if you move the trail pipe it has a bigger gap. Could that just be welded?

That's actually part of the muffler. I doubt you could weld it properly.
You need a new muffler

Yea you can weld it but if your going to weld something might as well be a upgrade. I did one a couple weeks ago and was way worse then that but they didn't want to replace it just fix it.

So if i just replaced the muffler could i use the original tail pipe and everything? Also is that something i could just unbolt and bolt the new one back? I can somewhat weld but i don't have a welder. I would like to fix it just to save money but if i could get a new one for a decent price I would consider that.

What would be a good muffler to get if i do decide to replace it?

Amazon.com: Flowmaster 942447 Super 44 Muffler - 2.25 Center IN / 2.25 Offset OUT - Aggressive Sound: Automotive Amazon.com: Flowmaster 942447 Super 44 Muffler - 2.25 Center IN / 2.25 Offset OUT - Aggressive Sound: Automotive

if i do replace it this one has good reviews. Anyone have any experience with it? I also could buy that with the tail pipe and clamp for just over $100.

To me the Flowmasters make a Jeep sound like an unmuffled lawnmower. Personally I would rather stick with the stock sound than make mine sound like that.

Get on YouTube and listen to clips of the various brands. I haven't found one yet that sounds better than a Gibson catback, but they're pricey. Banks is a good compromise between sounding good and draining your bank account.

A new Thrush welded muffler on Amazon is $30, good quality and it sounds pretty good.

Just go to a local muffler shop and buy their muffler cheaper in the long run for sure. When I had my exhaust replaced late last year from the cat back including muffler, tailpipe, clamps, hangers, labor $97 out the door..... But I like my stuff quiet (No Flow Crappers on my XJ) I like to sneak up on things and hear what's going on around me.
