my 4x4 is popping in and out
hi guys and girls!
This is my first time doing this so i hope it works. i am having a problem with my 4x4 cutting in and out while im driving. the handle stays in one place and it doesnt grind but it clunks in and out in either hi or lo as does the "part time" light on the dash. i think the axles look like chevy 10 bolts but im not sure if that helps. not sure on trans or t-case but any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Reed

I had the disco d30 it did the same thing. The actuator cost like 200 bucks. Instead I spent the 200 bucks on a d30 with a 1 piece axle shaft. Money well spent.

Just the front. if you do it. Need to make sure you get a axle with the same ratio as the rear.
First we need to make sure that is your problem.. Can you check the T-case fluid? Just to make sure it's not empty and it's not the chain jumping.

well we tookthe 2 peice axel shaft, all the actuator prts, scrapped, cut and drilled a blockoff plate, siliconed it up and took the passenger axel shaft out of a 91 or newer dana30,he never had another problem,no need for a 200 dollar actuator, hope this info helps

cool. maybe this weekend ill get it into my uncles garage and check t case fluid. how would i know if the chain is slippin? could check the lever too. i was wondering if it could possibly be a vacuum leak in the lines going from axle to t case? the light seems to go out if a rev it and come on when i idle down???
