That is what I did on my 90XJ and it stops much better now. Also used Wagner Thermo-Quiet pads. I swapped in a C8.25 29 spline rear and am now trying to find rear Libby discs for it. But just the changed booster/MC made a great difference.

ok now b/c I do not know all the diff fitments, you guys are saying that a 96 booster will bolt right in and help out. Then after that read and learn to do the rear discs.

I can get the booster and master for about 100 for the 96. but I was hoping for a reply saying if it all bolts right in or if I need to modify anything.
Thanks

you'll need a new brake line made up to go from the master to the brake diff block which you'll have to unbolt to mate up to the hard lines near the frame rail.
and you'll have to drill out the hole in the brake rod and grind it flat for the brake light switch.
other than that, the brake rod is a bit longer than the original, but it's easy to get used to.
you'll enjoy having good strong brakes again, that's for sure. best mod i did so far, and i have a few...

Does the KJ liberty rear disc bolt right on? What about the pedal feel with the stock booster and master cylinder? I'm looking to do this one day. My brake works fine now but squeals like a little ***** sometimes.

Does anybody out there know what years grand cherokee vacuum booster and MC are the best to use, I have an 89 XJ pioneer and the brakes were spongy and really sucked so I tried swapping in a 95 grand cherokee booster and MC, now its even worse, wont stop the vehicle from moving on idle. Pumped it, bled the brakes, not sure why it made it worse? help please

Read this for the brake booster swap.....http://www.cherokeetalk.com/forum/f2...-upgrade-1632/
Read this for Liberty disk brakes on a XJ.... Said to be easier than ZJ brake swap.
