They make half quarter panels, about $60.

I dont think Im tracking on what your saying, where am I drilling the holes? and putting the 2x4...it all sounds promising, Im just not visualizing the set up. The winch sounds like a great call, I tried a whole buncha things, that folded over metal is pretty flipping strong. thanks for the help thus far everyone, Ill just get that part, whatever it is, at a dealer like ya'll said. and as far as the last comment, money dictates getting it fixed right...i would love to have it done correctly...

that "part" is the breather elbow for the PCV system and yes, Jeeps have them. the PCV valve is located on the intake manifold to the rear of the throttle body with a vacuum line running from it to the valve cover. I'd recommend just picking one up at a local junkyard. They should have a decent number of cherokees that were murdered in the C4C program and still have a good PCV breather on them. I had to replace the one on mine and because its such a small part the Jy will typically just let you have them for free. Make sure you get one that matches yours though because the design changed somewhere around the 95 model year

After you pull off the cover behind the spare tire, you will see how the tank filler line and vent line are run through the body there. If you reach back there, you will see that there is just barely enough room to maneuver a short (like 5-6 inches) 2x4 against the bent metal. Figure out where your 2x4 will line up and drill there accordingly. You may have to pull in several spots. I got most of mine out by pulling on the seam area. I have attached the before and after pictures of mine. The before does not really show the extend of the damage due to the crap picture it is, but look at the fold in the bumper and the gap between the body and hatch door.

bump...

so, I just wanna do a follow up for anyone that may have cared about the PCV controversy in this thread.

The results are in...

The front elbow in question is indeed just a breather elbow...it is all of $5.75 at the dealer and apparently they crack all the time.

The rear elbow in question...is indeed (on a 98 atleast) a PCV valve...which pepboys carries for about $5.50.

so, if anyone cracks them, now you know. and they're cheap.

All engines need to vent the crankcase gases, but that line is there so that the oil vapors vent into the air intake. This way, the vapors are burned up instead of being released into the air. Sort of an emissions issue, really. If you disconnect it there might be legal issues (not sure about installing a filter) but in any case you don't want it left open. Dust, dirt, and humidity will find its way back in, and will do damage in the short/long run.

As stated before, find one at a salvage yard if you want to save a buck, and you should be able to reuse the hose. Just don't leave it open!

sry guys 2000 inline 6 no pvc its called ccv crankcase ventilation system, plus auto zone ,and advanced auto dont list pvc for them sorry too bust your bubble, this most likely 1999 ,2000,2001. i dont have and older one so i dont know. But if you look in the haynes book page 1-4 its also called ccv system. So I dont know what year is pictured there but its a closed cooling system. Oh well. Not looking for a cat fight either, good luck.

98 cherokee...im just saying the rear pcv valve i got from pepboys...it was exactly the same piece as the one i took off when i replaced it with the new one...and it was labled...PCV valve. not saying your wrong...cause let me tell you...i have zero auto mechanical background.

i do know the front one is just an elbow...its a standard breather elbow...got that one at the dealer.

damn you jeep Gods, just let the truth be known!!!!
