name that part...
Hey everyone, I am currently swapping out my t-stat, t-stat housing, water pump and drive belt today. After getting my t-stat housing and t- stat out there is some wicked rust built up under all of it so I am wanting to replace a few more things.
1. There is a sensor attached to the t-stat housing that I cant get to unscrew so I was going to disconnect and get a new one. I'm assuming its some kind of temp sensor but I don't know the official name to look up parts cost.
Here is a pic...
2. I'm looking for the name of the hose connection that runs from the water pump to the heater hose. The hose connects to a smaller seems to be aluminum fitting which then attaches to the water pump. (it screws into the left side of the water pump.) Here is a pic
Again just looking for what these pieces are called b/c I'm not sure. So I want to make sure I ask for the right part when I go to Oreilly's later today.
ALSO, what would you all recommend is the best way to get some serious rust out of my cooling system? I've flushed it about 5 times in the past 6 months and even used PEAK RADIATOR flush on it. It just keeps coming back and gunks my crap up!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. From my research so far, that is what they are called. I just gotta go buy 'em

Temp sensor.
And any parts store will have hose that size.
For the flush, take it to a shop. They do it at a hot temp and use cleaners.

Are you using antifreeze? Your water looks clear. That could be a reason why the rust keeps coming back. You need to run antifreeze...
You can always take the part to the store and that way you will be positive that they give you the right part.

Thanks! Also, I think I am done for the day :-) I am at the point of frustration with the water pump pulley. I got the bolts out, but the pulley will NOT come off of the water pump!

I had the same problem when changing out my water pump. Just give it a few taps with a hammer in the center. Try not to hit the pulley you don't want to damage that. Good luck.

Yes I am using Antifreeze. It has been running hot the past few days and spewing coolant from the rad cap and from a small gasket leak between the h2o pump and t-stat housing. So After I flushed it, I added just water for the past 3 days as to not waste coolant until today when I could get to it to swap everything out. Good ol' coolant will be back in it by tomorrow. The rust has been there since I got it the Jeep last year.

Okay, I'm at the point of frustration here. Am I missing something?
2001 60th ed. 4.0L Water pump removal. I have taken the four main bolts out of the pulley, are there smaller screws inside the little holes in the center? Because I CAN NOT get this pulley off to save my life!

If that doesn't work rent a puller from your local auto parts store

Got it off and got everything back on but no one had the inlet hose so I tried to reuse it & all was well until the old inlet hose sprung a leak :-) time to start all over again! :-D. Unless one of you guys know how to get the inlet hose off w/o removing the h2o pump.
Here's a pic of the old & new. The flaps on the old were completely gone. Its hard to see in this pic
