Name that Part…
I borrowed my once owned by me 98 XJ from my daughter to go to work.
Long story short, it didn’t start up to come back home.
I jumped the starter, drove home. Realized it’s the ignition pin. It’s broken, obviously, in two pieces, and I just went on the journey to replace it.
The jeep starts, all blinkers work, the cowel/plastics are still off, and all is good…. Except when I take out the key, it still buzzes the key in buzzer.
When I put the plastics in, the left blinker blinks super fast.
I found this on the floor…
any ideas what it is?
It’s spring loaded.
When I took out the ignition switch, the ignition pin actuator, and the cylinder lock, I also took off the windshield wiper switches, blinker switches and keeper steel rod on top.
I’m wondering if it came from one of the Switches on top of the column. Guessing the blinker switch.
Again, found on the floor, looks new, tried a Google Search. Can anyone name the part? Or send me in a direction?
It’s spring loaded inside. You can squeeze it top to bottom and it re-expands.
Even guesses are appreciated.
Sitting Still, everything works without the plastics, except for the buzzer by the door, which keeps dinging, even with the key out.
it also made a crazy dying bird sound at one point.
Do I need to have the battery reset?
When replacing the ignition?
Thanks.

Really, I’m asking if anyone knows what the Brass spring loaded part is…
Sorry I got long winded on the explanation.
I figured any information would help.
