This sounds kinda like what happened to me; voltage gauge was at 9, tightened some of the wires on the alternator (they were loose) worked for about two weeks, then when I'd start it it sat at 14v for a while, then it'd drop. Turned out to be the voltage regulator on my alternator, so I just replaced it. But if your alternator checks out, that's outside of my league. The guy that helped me replace it used some kind of voltage meter or something to check it.
How did you have the alternator checked?
