Need Help?
Ok I own a 89 Jeep Cherokee and everything's fine but the motor has a knock plus lifters are noisy (all the time) and broke bolts into thurmostae housing. Well theirs a 90 Grand Cherokee rebuilt at 120,000 and was driving till got totalled so someone bought motor to fix their sons wrangled but fixed there's after all. Guy told me it was apparently rebuilt and new freeze plugs plus motor looks clean. Question is does a Grand Cherokee swap right into a Cherokee? Some said yes other said no so Idk I need information.
Thanks
Thanks

In my sig there is a link to cruisers stuff. #17? maybe has some stuff on that.
I run "sudden death", Castrol 30 WT and a wix filter. (since it's rarely cold here). 270K Strong as a goat!
My 90 is just "supper" not a grand...

Get me the numbers off the passenger side of the engine above and to the right of the distributor.

I dont have the motor in my reach but heres the post
For Sale used Jeep Engine: Inline 6 cylinder 4.0L, asking $425
Engine bought to replace my son's jeep engine. Found out I was able to repair his instead of changing it out. When I bought it I was told that it was out of a 1990 Grand Cherokee and was rebuilt at 120,000 miles.

Have the guy give you the number.
Does it have the intake on it? If so, there's a question or two that would help us find out what year/vintage it is.
