Need Help.
I'm having some problems. When I start my jeep, I have to let it crank for a long time, or turn the key off and crank it again to get it started. when it starts, it idles real rough, then after about 30-45 seconds it smoothes out. It's never died on me, but still idles slightly rough at normal operating temp. I can hear the fuel pump kicking on when I turn the key on.
Injector probs?
Fuel pump/filter?
CPS/CKS?
Fuel pressure?
Where is the fuel regulator? Is it with the pump assembly?
2001 cherokee. 4.0L, auto transmission.

fuel pressure. check the regulator and, i imagine, there is a check valve somewhere that keeps the pressure up when the jeep is off.
instead of cranking it for a long time, turn the key to on so you hear the pump build pressure and then try to start it once the pump turns off. that should keep it from seeming like your jeep has an issue to outsiders

Get a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is at the schrader valve on the fuel rail take the readings with the key on, off, and running I forget the specs exactly I believe its supposed to be 49PSI Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong. then go from there. There is a check valve on the pump they are know to go out, if thats the case then there are some write ups about installing an aftermarket one.
