Default Need help on rotor size, cast or composite

99 Jeep Cherokee Sport

I need to buy rotors. My car is a 99 with a manufacture date of 11/98. According to info I found in another thread on rotor size, 1999.5 and older cars have composite rotors, 82mm. 1999.5 and newer have cast rotors, 78mm. Does the date of manufacture indicate whether my car has cast or composite rotors?

A thin guy got under the car to measure them, and his measurement is 78mm, indicating 1999.5 and newer. But that doesn't make sense if the build date is 11/98, does it.

Can you tell by overall appearance if a rotor is cast or composite? Thanks.

Thanks.

The build date is not completely reliable.
You could just pull a rotor and take it to the parts store and
compare with the two possibilities they have.

Here is a thread with more information about appearance.
