Default Need Help!! TC lever position for 2wd??

Please help...TC lever position for 2wd????

Recently had linkage break while shifting in/out of 4wd driving home in snow. Crawled under jeep, found broken linkage rod and zip tied it out if way of spinning drive shaft and drove home. All dry now but not sure if in 4wd or 2wd and dont want to blow up TC driving on highway to work. Cannot find answer anywhere as to lever position for 2wd..all way forward or all way back. Please advise...need help.

Well, I'm thinking that if the linkage rod is connected to the top of shift lever on the TC, then 4HI should be all the way back toward the rear. Then 2WD should be one position toward to the front. Test it by driving slowly (at idle) and turn the steering wheel left and right (stop to stop) and if it's still in 4WD you'll feel some tugging.

Even if you have the right position on the TC it's possible that you'll still be in 4WD. My NP231 is very fussy about coming out of 4WD. I need to be driving between 2-3 miles per hour (at idle usually) on flat ground and shift from 4HI to 2WD, and then it sometimes takes me a couple of times to get it to work.
