Also sealant isn't the only thing that will plug up a cooling system. Anti freeze will go bad, that is why you are supposed to flush the system and change the coolant from time to time.

That doesn't mean it isn't in there the factory is known to put some in "just in case"

I am going to keep that in the back of my mind... my work truck is a GMC.... and when it gets super hot its doesn't play nice... thanks for the tip...

A freeze out plug would be pissing out antifreeze. Does it have a leak?
I assume the Jeep had the overheating issue before the water pump and t-stat was put in to try to fix it. If it was just to freshen up the parts then you have air in the system.
Check your fan clutch and electric fan and make sure everything is working properly.
Make sure the radiator is not caked up with dirt preventing important airflow.
If you have a leak, fix it. When you're coolant level gets low, it'll overheat.
More serious problems can be in the cylinder head but start with the basics.
If a vehicle was loaded with stop leak, it can cause blockages causing overheating. It tends to block up heater cores as well.
