Default Need a lift

I am looking for a lift on my 4.0 98 cherokee and don't want to spend a ton. I understand you get what you pay for most of the time but I am not going to be using it real crazy.

Any suggestions on what brand I can get a 3.5 - 4" lift for around $500 or less that will will hold up for easy to moderate off roadin? It's going to be my every day driver for a while too and that's why I will be taking it easy.

Oh yea, and what else do I NEED to get along with it to be able to head out right away? I have 30" BFG's right now that are 9.5 wide. But do I need anything else in the suspension along with the lift kit to go out right away once it's installed?

Thanks for helping out a rookie!

this is the one im looking at. New leaf pack and shocks! Most cheap lift kits only come with add-a-leaf which doesn't necessarily last, and will eventually sag.

Thanks, I took a look. I have seen that one and thought it looked good too. I also noticed a thread on Page 2 that is for lift questions because the forum has too many separate threads for lifts. But I am just too new to all this to even grasp all the stuff they are mentioning.

I am looking at the kits and trying to figure out if I will need to get other stuff. I also seen a rough country lift that I am considering but I think I am leaning more towards that RE lift.

Mind you that kit don't come with shocks. You can easily spend another $200 on shocks alone.

your he can be super cheap and walk away with shocks for under $150.......

my personal experice is I would stay away from RC. I have see to many bushings destroyed after a couple months of use. I have seen the leafs sag after a year of use. Seen their trackbars bent.

since I am not thinking about going to crazy and I wont be doing the funny rocks or the busywild I am thinking about just going with 2.5" spacers on the front and 2.5" block and U-bolt in the back. When I do this, will I need to get new shocks?

Since I am new to this, later on if I decided that I want to get a little crazier and take on more challenging trails I can get a real lift and extend it with the same spacer and blocks right?

I wouldnt do the blocks in the rear. they cause axle wrap which will destroy driveline ujoints and make your leaf spring to sag prematurely. stay away from blocks!

x2. Blocks aren't a good idea. From what I've heard and seen, RC is okay for easy/moderate stuff, but a little rough if you're keeping it as a DD as well. Rusty's is pretty good if you need to stay lower $$ wise. I got their 3" with full leaf packs, shocks, springs, rear brake line extension, and all the hardware for $520 after shipping. I do moderate wheeling - no armor yet - and haven't had any issues.

Thanks for that. Have you ever used them before? Also do you know of any decent trailing around Packwood? I want to stay out of Evens Creek on Fourth of July weekend and don't really want to cross the mountains if I can help it. Maybe just a quiet place round Randle, Packwood, Morton etc...
