Complaining about good oil pressure? No relation to the CAT.

If you do the valve cover gasket, bite the bullet and get the expensive FelPro blue silicon one. It's way better, you don't need any extra adhesive or sealer, rigid and stays in place during install. Unlike the cork one that you need to glue into the cover first, shrinks and leaks a few years later. Having done an 89 cover recently, I ended up pulling the heater hose off the thermostat housing to get enough room to get the cover out. Preferably before undoing the cover so you don't have to worry about dumping coolant into the top of the head.

@cruiser54 does this pass the official cruiser test?

Previously

Negative terminal wire-brushed and sprayed deoxit

Other grounds - same treatment

Oxgard applied

Oxgard applied

A little Oxgard to the nut also

Wire-brushed and sprayed with deoxit

Put back together

I am going to, yes. My Jeep doesn’t appear to have a lot of the issues other Jeeps of my year have but I don’t see how adding additional grounds can hurt.

That one cable looks like the copper is a bit rotten. I'd add a decent ground back to the battery as the starter current flows back through there.

@lawsoncl by “that one cable” are you referring to the battery ground? I agree that it does appear to have seen better days.
