Well, the temp was running + - 165 on the exit ramp of the freeway and 198 on the O'Reilly gauge less than 1/4 mile away with the Jeep running and gauge agreeing. Then back down to 165 on the freeway until the stop light, then up to 185 and back down to 165 again on the freeway.
So, . . . sounding more like the electric fan not engaging ? ? ? How do I test the fan, trigger mechanism, and or ______? ? ?
Cool is better than hot, so don't sweat it (buh dump bump) or _______ ???
Thanks

Please confirm. So thermostat despite being recently replaced with new ?
If yes, should I expect it to run 185 all the time to coincide with 185 thermostat or ________?
How does that work?
Thanks

Unless you live in the arctic, you will always run hotter than thermostat setting due to small radiator and ****ty airflow. If you can keep within 10 to 15 deg from thermostat setting...your doing good

1996 cooling fan...comes on at approx 215-220...a bit farther past the 210 mark than you think.. fan turns on any time an AC mode is selected...as long as there is enough freon to engage the ac clutch. Have you confirmed the accuracy of the gauge sensor or the tstat sensor yet...

Only confirmed sensor via O'Reilly's trick DTC scanner. See above.
I'll just replace the thermostat with Mopar (still a cheap fix ! ), keep the other as a spare, and see what happens.
Better cool than hot! :-)
Hopefully there won't be, More to come.
Thanks guys

Cool isnt necessarily better than hot. Within spec is what you want.
