I have a 2000 Cherokee with 4.0 and automatic trans... My NSS broke and I have a 1988 Cherokee limited with auto trans..I took the NSS off it but the electrical connectors are different. Does anyone know if I can cut and spice the wires from the 1988 and make it work on the 2000? The 88 has six wires and the 2000 has 7 wires. 2000 has red, blue, green , two yellow, and two black wires the 88 has two black two yellow, a green and a white wires?

Hmm, sounds like a bit of a challenge you would get yourself into. Esp since the number of wires and wires themselve are not the same. I dont know much about the Renix wiring (Cruiser54 will) and I wonder if ur not just better off getting a proper NSS without all this bomb-technician wiring experiments. One wire wrong, and the thing might continue to fail.
Just my 2 cents.

I was reading the other threads and I read where you can buy one on ebay for $50 shipped, so I ordered one and it will be here on friday. My local parts store wanted $380 for on so anyone looking for a cheaper fix ebay is the place to go.

Curious as to what exactly broke on yours? Mine went bad on my 98, I ended up just taking it off and giving it a good cleaning. Now it works like a charm

Way to go. Without wiring diagrams for both the early and late NSSs and the fact that one has more wires than the other, and unless you need more aggravation in your life, I like your choice.

Thats what I was thinking, and I didn't really want to take the one of the 88 because it runs awesome, I am thinking about selling it so I can get some new tires for my 2000, and its hard to sell somehting that doesn't run!!!

Yep. They're either a parts vehicle or they aren't in my book.
