OK so some idiot decided he needed my stereo out of my 99 xj more than I did. Once he got in, instead of picking up the keys from the floor, he decided to try and be a real the if and Hotwire it. So he busted the steering column and destroyed my key switch. However, the battery was dead (Thank God) or my jeep would have been gone. So anyway, now I need to get it up in a trailer to take it to a more secure place until I can get it fixed. How do I get it into neutral without a key? It's setting on a slight incline also. Not sure if that matters. Any help would be appreciated. Also looking for parts to replace around steering column, stereo, etc.

Is the transfer case shifter interlocked also? I'm going to try it when I get home. If so, removing the driveshaft is pretty easy.

shift transfer case to neutral.... If also looked, shouldn't be, then and only then drop the shafts.

It's in 2wd rt now. Will I still shift the transfer case into neutral first? Why?

Transfer case is after the transmission in the driveline. If t-case is in neutral, it doesn't matter which gear transmission is in...Jeep will roll.
