Yep. Hadn't thought about it before but when my buddy loosened the Fram, only teaspoons of oil came out.

But when I start to remove a Wix, Napa Gold, or Mopar, the oil gushes out. I need to have a drainpan under there.

Most of the higher end filters like Royal Purple, K & N etc are made by the same people that make the high quality off-the-shelf filters that are readily available for less money. Like Wix and Napa Gold. Heck, get a Mopar filter at Wal-Mart and you'll be fine.

After reading all these posts and other reviews I changed out my fram today and put a wix in. I noticed about a quarter of a quart came out but I did drive to the store and back. About a mile away. I feel if I waited a few hours I would have only drained a little oil. I do notice a lack of lifter tick upon start up which before I just accounted to a "jeep thing"

Im gonna stick with wix or mopar

Interesting. I'm not surprised to hear how little oil came out or that your lifter noise is gone. Thanks for sharing that.

Your "jeep thing" lifter tick was the POS OCOD anti drainback not working. The only fram I like is the 30' tall inflatable at the NHRA events. Also I cut an AC delco filter apart a couple of weeks ago and it was well constructed so I say safe to use.

Actually AC Delco was not spoken well of here FWIW. Maybe they're better now?
