I guess I'm just plain stupid!! I just don't get the ins and outs of the HNT set up. I have a 242 and would like to do this mod if it is going to make it a better (stronger) set up. Please me understand what the HNT is and how it is done?? Much thanks, later!!

Basically that shaft the drive shaft mounts to on the t-case you chop some off it is then retap it and mount back up...That's the genera; gist let me see if I can find the writeup for it..

Actually if you read up some places. Tom Woods does the HNT for you..then sends you the back half of the t-case. Of which he wants your core returned.

Its a matter of being good enough to cut your shaft, then tap is exactly straight to put the bolt in.

I don't have confidence to crawl under a jeep with the tcase spinning in gear..mark it and then cut it as some have listed in their instructions.

So the HNT is just as strong as a SYE kit...Unless they replace some part to make it stronger steel. Wide chain seems to be the only real upgrade to the 231s.

If your selector inside the jeep has full time 4wd it's a 242 is it just has 4hi and 4lo and neutral then is a 231...
