Default New brake drums not fitting after rebuilding them

I cant figure out what is going on. The drum brake bar makes them too large to put the drum over them. Everything is adjusted as small as I can. The kit and pads are from the PowerStop B538 kit. Any Ideas? 2000 classic 4.0 for reference

Did you open the bleeder screw so you could push the pistons all the way in?

your parking brake bar spring(yellow) looks like its crushed...meaning engaged. You might have to completely back off your parking brake adjuster cable to retract the shoes...and verify your pistons are fully retracted

2 things...I sincerely hope you did one side at a time, meaning you can just look at and measure the original setup?

I am an old codger now, and thats what I do for that exact reason...oops

sob nearly caught me caught me last time..now there is a crossbar piece that goes across between the shoes...this can totally be put in upside down, or even wrong, and jam the thing up.

I cant see it on yours at all ?

To ensure the shoes are maximally retracted, wrap a cord round, and twist it up tight with a lever

A good set of old-fashioned inside and outside calipers is super useful for this work, I reckon mine may be a 100 yrs old
