Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
If the engine is running at 160 degrees the ECM will add fuel because it thinks the engine is cold. The added fuel is the cause of the black smoke, the rotten egg smell, and the crappy mileage. Replace the thermostat with a 195 degree t-stat and your problem will be solved.
