Default new front speakers for infinity system

I fixed up my drivers door wires today and the front speakers came back to life. Of course they are blown.

Can I just replace them with 2 ohm speakers or is there something else about these speakers which means you can't use standard aftermarket gear? I've read loads of threads but there are lots of different ideas on this.

Thanks
Morat

Get a pair of Pioneers or Kickers from Best Buy, or a local similar retailer.

If they don't work out, you can return them.

Why do you want to use 2 ohm speakers?

Get on the crutchfield website and key in your vehicle information. You can then shop for any audio component you wish and you'll get fitment verification. Even if you don't buy from them you'll know the brand and model to shop for locally. Although, crutchfield is a pretty good company for price and unmatched for service so buying from them is a safe way to go.

Why 2 ohm? Because I had read that the originals were 2 ohm. Looks like I was wrong....

Thanks for the tip on crutchfield! I didn't know about them being from England, but their database is fantastic.

And yes, it looks like normal 4 ohm speakers are the way to go. I should have stuck the multimeter on the one I had out of the door while I was soldering this afternoon :-/

I wonder if 6.5s are worth it... Hmm :-)

Thanks folks!

I got a nice set of 4 Morel Maximo 5 1/4" Coax speakers from another Jeep at the JY, and they are absolutely AMAZING! Good low end punch, but the built in tweeter sounds SO good! All four wired to a 4 Channel, 700W Pioneer Amp and the difference from stock is night and day! They sound really good even without the amp, and they're not too expensive. Last I checked, a bit cheaper than Kickers.
