Default New muffler install

Ok so I plan on buying a new muffler that is the exact same size as the factory one. My question is if the inlet and outlet are still 2.25 inches, how do I clamp it? Considering the pipes should be the same size and wont slip over each other. Thanks

inlet should be just larger as the outlet should be just smaller to allow you to slip it in place.....should be

u can buy short pieces that go inside the pipes,u put half the short pipe in the exhaust then leave half of it stickin out and then stick the muffler on the other end of the short pipe, then clamp both sides, thats what i had to do,most mufflers that i have seen didnt expand at the inlets or exits

I just replaced the muffler and cat on my 2000........I used the magnaflow muffler and then a few days later I installed the magnaflow cat....sounds great!

What you should do is take the factory muffler and cut the inlet pipe off and weld it to the inlet of the new muffler.....make sure to mark the correct angle.....you will need to add a piece of pipe to the outlet side of the muffler.

Unfortunately I do not posses the ability or tools required to weld, so I'm gonna have to clamp it

look at the muffler box the numbers will either have od or id.
fi your pipes are 2 1/4 od (outer dia) you want a muffler that has 2 1/4 id(ineer dia) and it will slide over your pipes. most mufflers come id so just check the numbers on your box. GOOD LUCK!
