new shoes
The old girl is about ready for new shoes...
99 XJ on 2.5" lift.
Considering 30's or 31s at the biggest. I have 235s now. Would like a little larger, but dont want to go so big that I lose articulation by rubbing up in the fender wells.
Thoughts?

I have found that you can stuff 31x10.5s pretty far up in the fenders as long as you run a 4.25 back spacing wheel. I will have to double check my notes but I think it was on a 8" wide wheel. Just dont expect to be able to turn the wheel at all if the tire is in the fender.

Here’s 3.5” lift on 31” tires, 15x8 with 4” backspace and bump stopped.
It gets VERY close, but haven’t popped a flare off. Trimmed a little plastic off the rear of the flare at the bottom that was catching in hard turns.
Hope this helps you decide what to do.

I only have a 2.5" lift. so pretty mild. I'm not into any trimming, backspacing, etc. I'll be putting them on the stock 15" steelies. (I like the look). I want to go a little larger than the 235s which I dont think look bad...but I don't do crazy offroading. Just occasional trails.... mild/moderate. Nothing serious.
I just dont want to go so big that I'm rubbing on everything.

I have 30 x 9.5s on my stock Comanche and the same tires on my unlifted 98 ZJ.
Pretty clear to me.

It makes sense now that you point out what size tires you are running. Unless I'm missing something, the link to DTD just showed the tire's main page and not any specific size. Your original post doesn't mention it either.

Technology is so wonderful. The link showed the 30 X 9.5 when I attached it.

with a 2-1/4 " actual lift, I ran 235/75/r16s which were 29.7" They filled the fenders on my '99 XJ

for 15" rims In BFG KO2 = 30 x9.5 r 15 = 29.5"

29.45" is the diameter of the 30 x 9.5 x 15 Pathfinders. They will work fine.
But how should I know? I just have them in applications the OP is looking for.
I'm sure we can find a way to make this much more complicated if we work on this more diligently......
