Good afternoon by now.
No worries, fell asleep indeed. I would have never let you children get so carried away with my OP issue, otherwise, haha. I can't leave you alone for more than an hour, can I?
My apologies to the OP, I assume you aren't a lying b-stard, but the PO was.

Indeed the sence of humor is great, so is the flushing and draining of our toilets.

Does Cruiser have a post on plug gapping with a cat? I've been throwing cats all morning and can't seem to get a consistent gap setting thru the 6 plugs. I'm throwing all four of our cats; perhaps I'm using too wide a variety of cat?
On Champions do I gap with left whiskers and NGK with right whisker; or is it a tail gap for all?
My dog says I should be using the cats for continuity checks, does that seem right?
Do Australian distributors also rotate in the other direction?
So many mysteries to resolve??
Dog says if I throw the cats again, she'll catch em.

My 1999 civic came with basic ngk plugs rated for 30k. Previous owner had 110k miles on them without changing them, the center electrode was worn down flush with the insulator, car still ran fine. I changed them and noticed about 2 mpg increase, ran the same.

I put the ngk's in my 1991 and it runs the same as it did with the champion coppers.

Ran 117000 km over 24 months on last set of Champion RC9YC. They were done, electrodes worn down. Decided to run NGK G-Power ZFR5FGP, has a platinum tip, smaller dia tip than the Champion. Starting is much much faster and seems to pull a little stronger, didn'd change my wires or cap/rotor, just cleaned up the cap and rotor(80Kkm).
We will see how the NGK longevity holds up over the next hundred K.
I think SalesXJ had good colour on the plugs, no significant fouling so the cylinder/rings integrity would appear good. Are the Omni wires readily available, ever used them before, do you like em?

Interesting. I'm thinking of going NGK Iridium next time. Used them in my quads over the years.

Ever investigated Taylor plug wires?

Used them for years and decided one tiem to compare resistance between identical length wires on a 496 gas motor running on propane.

Less than 2 ohms resistance between wires. Checked TWO sets of Belden wires from the same vehicle and had oveer 75 ohms difference on some. Took 2 sets to make one good one.

Yea I do like them they have a snug fit over the cap and the spark plug. At my neighborhood O'Reilly they where about 35 bucks.

I still the Taylors on most of my engines and I agree mine are all the large race type and would be hard to deal with on a stock engine but dependable. My current Turbo motor has MSD wires on it but my engine builder put them on for the Dyno testing and I kept them. There is a ton of wires on that motor anyway as you would guess MSD recorder + full controller plus FAST FI tuning a nightmare.

Coils are very important in all applications stock as well a HP ones. I'm one to talk the plugs in my XJ are the ones that came in it when I bought it as is the rest only fluids changed lol. My plugs might look as bad as the OP who knows but the person I bought it from clamed a tune-up but he also clamed some other things that did not pan out. I have been holding out till the new engine is ready for mine. I have been buying all sensors for the new one all along but my builder is still looking for a good block. He also builds my race motors so this one is a side one as I told him no hurry want it built to a race specd engine using mostly stock parts except for rotating assembly. Want this engine to last as when I'm gone its going to my grandson now 15 yrs. old.

If you use those plugs please post your thoughts on them in the 4.0.
