New Thrush Welded Muffler. FAIL...
#16
Do you hear banjos?
Putting the tail pipe back on will make a huge difference. Turbos are really loud when they dump right out of the muffler. You could try that, before spending the $$ on the other muffler that may sound the same with no TP. HTH!!

Oh, one thing I will recommend is be wary of how you route your tailpipe. I found out the hardway that my shock tangled with my tailpipe at full droop. The shock won as the tailpipe got bit of a crimp in it.

Thanks for this tip, after going the cheap route and rather than spen 130 bucks for a cat back system I simply put a 20 dollar Cherry Bomb Turbo after the cat to quiet my cherokee down.Fist thing i noticed was an increase in bottem end torqe. However even after bringing the loudness down this muffler has extreme resonance.Sets off car alarms as i pass by.And it does interfear with my music.Definety gonna install a tailpipe when i get the time.

The tailpipe sure does make a massive difference, really makes it alot les obnoxious. Hey Bent/Bolt when you get the dough together rusty's offroad has a tailpipe available for $80.00, there may be cheaper out there but they were the first thing to come to mind. Here's the link...

You know, that sounds pretty nice dudeinanxj. Thats the kind of sound I was going for actually. I'm thinking the reason I hated it so much was because it was exiting under the jeep, and I couldn't stand the resonance in the cab. I have a 2 1/4" high flow cat and a 2 1/2" tailpipe. The muffler just wouldn't line up with my tailpipe due to the offset problem. I'm thinking that you are getting a much more satisfying sound by having the tailpipe actually exiting where it should. It your Thrush a center inlet/offset output one? Because the auto store here said all the ones they had were offset in/center out, which just doesn't work.

Mine is 2.5" pipe from cat. inlet connection back to a Flowmaster 40 2.5 center inlet and 2.5 offset outlet to the passenger side. The tailpipe is cutom bent as I told the guy at the muffler shop I didn't want to see it and I wanted it tucked up out of the way of everything. It exits out the passenger side rear corner. It sounds good but not too loud and since the shock met and had it's way it has stayed out of the way of everything else. It did get a little louder than it was when it was first done but, I like it just fine. It has a really nice rumble between 2000-3000 RPM which is where I am most of the time. Kind of has that mad Hornet sound when any higher.
